Contact Lists

A contact list contains a list of phone numbers and names that a message can be sent to. Contact lists are used when sending broadcast messages to multiple clients and the SMS tool allows you you to create, delete and manage contact lists.

Accessing contacts

On the left side bar, click on the contacts button;

 

A contacts page is displayed:

On the contacts page you can perform a few actions:

1. Toggle between displaying active and inactive contacts 

2. The contacts are displayed in table at the bottom of the page.

3. Click on the export button to export the current contacts being displayed

Creating a new contact list

Click on the Add Contact List button on the right, a pop up window on the right with the form below is displayed

List name - This is the name of the contact list ( must be unique)

File upload

To create your new list you must upload an excel file(.xlsx) with the phone number and name of the recipient. The format is provided in the sample file.

Things to consider while uploading the contact file:

a). The phone number must start with the country code e.g. 2547XXXXXXX 260XXXXXXX 

b). If an invalid phone number is entered the record will be skipped during message sending.

c). After you have created your contact list file click on the file upload section and navigate to the contact list.

d). Wait for the upload and extraction process to complete. If the extraction process fails the status of the contact list will be set to no data, also if a contact is set to inactive state that means that the number is blocked and no messages can be sent.

e). After the process is completed you are now ready to use your new contact list. If you are uploading a big contact list, e.g. 1000 records the process may take a while.
